Gary Otto

PGA Head Golf Professional

My name is Gary Otto; I am a proud Class A Member of the PGA and am fortunate to have chosen a career path that I truly love.

I started working at Club Corp. 28 years ago as a cart attendant and worked my way up to General Manager. I have worked at six Club Corp. facilities including Lochmere Golf Club, Devils Ridge Golf Club, The Neuse Golf Club, Nags Head Golf Links, Currituck Club, Country Club of Hilton Head and worked for Toll Brothers as the Head Golf Professional at Hampton Hall.

I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and moved to the Hilton Head Island area fourteen years ago. I currently reside in Okatie with my wife, Mary. In our spare time, we enjoy boating, fishing and playing golf.

I am very excited to be a part of the Riverton Pointe Team and look forward to all the great things to come.

Ernie Hanewinckel

Head Golf Professional

We are pleased to welcome Ernie Hanewinckel as our new Head Golf Professional at Riverton Pointe Golf & Country Club.

Originally from New Orleans, Ernie has called the Hilton Head area home since 2013. He has been a proud member of the PGA since 1988 and brings decades of diverse experience in the golf industry. His impressive background includes serving as General Manager at Dolphin Head Golf Club, Director of Golf at Gleneagles, and Head Golf Professional at Palmetto Hall.

Ernie has worked at public, semi-private, and fully private clubs, and has managed facilities ranging from 18 to 54 holes. His career has taken him across Louisiana, Florida, and South Carolina, giving him a broad and versatile perspective on golf club operations.

Outside of his professional life, Ernie enjoys traveling and is an enthusiastic supporter of the Florida Gators and college athletics. He and his wife, Carol, have two adult children, Stephen and Kristie.

We are thrilled to have Ernie join the Riverton Pointe team and look forward to the leadership and passion he brings to our club!

Dustin Halle

Lead Assistant Golf Professional

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Dustin has lived in the area the past four years. He joins us from Belfair, where he also served as Lead Assistant Professional, bringing with him over 11 years of experience in the golf industry. Dustin is a Level 2 PGA Associate with a deep passion for the game and a commitment to excellence in member service. What he loves most about working in golf is the opportunity to help grow the game and to build lasting relationships with members and guests.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife Tiffany and their two young children- Hudson (4) and Harper (almost 2) and taking advantage of all that the beautiful Lowcountry has to offer.

Edward McGuinness

Assistant Golf Professional

Born on the New York-New Jersey border, outside of New York City but moving to Hilton Head when he was two months old, Edward is as local as it gets. Growing up with a Dad who loved golf, he was introduced to the game living and playing on the 8th hole of Country Club of Hilton Head.

Edward attended St. Francis Catholic School and Hilton Head High School in Bluffton and University of North Carolina. After graduating he took a job in concessions management for the PGA Tour, traveled around the country, and nurtured his love for golf. When the pandemic hit, the tour ended and so did his job.

He was then recruited by Gary Otto, is now attending the PGA Professional Golf Management Associates program, and just passed his Playing Ability Test to become a Class A PGA Professional. The next three to four years will be filled with class work and lots of golf honing his skills. Welcome to Riverton Pointe!

Michael Cadle

Pro Shop Attendant

We'd like to welcome our new Pro Shop Attendant, Michael Cadle. Michael grew up in Minnesota and learned golf as a caddy in a private club in the Twin Cities as a teenager. He earned an Army commission from West Point and served for five years until he began a 35-year career in the high-tech field in the Washington DC metro area. He now makes his home with his wife in the community of Sun City West.

Michael is an avid single-digit handicap golfer and enjoys working part-time at Riverton Pointe. He comes to us from Old Tabby Links at Spring Island and looks forward to serving everyone.

Sissy Grand

Pro Shop Attendant

Sissy has been with Riverton Pointe since we were checking golfers in at the fitness center. She and her husband were both born and raised in Pittsburgh and spent their lives and careers there until they moved into The Haven in Bluffton.

Sissy thoroughly enjoys taking care of all the members at Riverton Pointe and keeping the Pro Shop looking fantastic.
